Three suspects arrested in robbery outside Joplin mall

WASHINGTON — An armed robbery Wednesday night of a woman in the parking lot of Northpark Mall led to the arrest of three suspects.

Joplin police said the woman was getting out of her vehicle about 7:50 p.m. when a man approached her from behind and demanded her purse. He showed her a handgun and she gave him the purse.

The robber was seen leaving in a blue pickup truck. A Jasper County sheriff’s deputy stopped a vehicle matching that description at Seventh and Oronogo streets in Webb City a short time later and took its three male occupants into custody.

Charged with first-degree robbery and armed criminal action were: Brock A. Buffington, 17, of Joplin; Zachary T. Jones, 17, of rural Joplin; and Trevor M. Seigrist, 19, of rural Joplin.
