Webb City man faces theft charge

A Jasper County sheriff’s deputy stopped the driver of a suspicious vehicle early Thursday near County Road 137 and Kafir Road and arrested the driver on a felony theft charge.

The sheriff’s office said in a news release that the deputy was checking out a report of a suspicious vehicle in the area and spotted a pickup pulling out of a driveway with various metal objects in the bed of the truck.

The owner of the property the truck was leaving was contacted by the deputy and went to the scene to verify that the items in the bed of the truck belonged to him. Since the value of the items was estimated at more than $500, the driver of the truck, Matthew Danner, 29, of Webb City, was arrested and charged with felony stealing.
