Woman faces added charge of car tampering

— The Jasper County prosecutor has filed an additional count of tampering with a motor vehicle against a Joplin woman previously charged with drunken driving in a vehicle pursuit Jan. 1 that ended with her vehicle crashing into a retaining wall and two patrol cars.

Deanna R. Martin, 29, allegedly was driving a Ford F-150 pickup truck that later was reported to have been stolen from the driveway of owner Kent Hagan. Police initially sought felony assault charges as well as a drunken-driving charge against Martin for allegedly crashing into the patrol cars. An officer in one of the cars required treatment for minor injuries. But the prosecutor declined to file assault charges.
