Meth probe leads to sixth arrest

BAXTER SPRINGS, Kan. — Deputies with the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Department made a sixth arrest Tuesday afternoon in an ongoing investigation into the manufacturing of methamphetamine in the Baxter Springs area.

Cynthia Evans, 29, of Columbus, was located and questioned by investigators prior to being taken into custody on suspicion of conspiring to manufacture meth, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and obstruction of justice. She also was being held on a warrant for failure to appear in court on another charge in Pittsburg.

The Cherokee County Sheriff’s Department has made five other arrests in the investigation since July 1.
