Felony murder charge filed against estranged husband

A felony murder charge was filed today against a Joplin man in connection with the shooting death of his estranged wife on Saturday.

Rondias Leon “Ronald” Webb was charged with first-degree murder, with the use of a deadly weapon, accused of shooting Monica M. Webb at her residence.

Monica M. Webb, 36, who was fatally shot in the head about 10:20 p.m. Saturday inside her apartment at 3415 E. 15th St. in Joplin. Rondias Webb, 35, 1502 S. Michigan, Apt. 7-2, also was found critically wounded inside the apartment where his wife had moved during their separation. Both shooting victims were taken to Freeman Hospital West, where she died Sunday afternoon.

According to the probable cause statement filed with the charge, Monica Webb was found inside her residence “with multiple gunshot wounds.” Joplin police responded to a call from Mary Saldanas, a friend and co-worker, who told authorities she had gone to meet Monica Webb,  saw her estranged husband force his way into the apartment, then heard a gunshot.
