Joplin police arrest man in weapon case

Joplin police arrested a Neosho man Monday night on warrants issued in Missouri and Oklahoma, and on charges of being a felon in possession of a firearm and fleeing from police.

Officers responding to a report of a disturbance near Seventh Street and Maiden Lane stopped a man who took off running from them but fell and was taken into custody.

Police Cpl. Chuck Niess said Roy P. Quick, 38, was found to have outstanding warrants in a probation violation case in Missouri and on a charge of being a fugitive from justice in Oklahoma. Niess said officers found a loaded .25-caliber handgun on Quick, and he was charged with being a felon in possession of a firearm.
