Woman facing felony drug count after vehicle stop

A Kansas woman is facing a felony drug charge after a traffic stop by police Wednesday afternoon in Joplin.

An officer stopped a vehicle at Third Street and Byers Avenue for a traffic violation.

Police Cpl. Chuck Niess said a search of a passenger turned up a bag that contained five pills of hydrocodone, a prescription narcotic.

Melinda M. Soper, 24, of Dennis, Kan., was arrested and charged with felony possession of a controlled substance.
