Prosecutor’s office files domestic assault charges in two cases

The Jasper County prosecutor’s office has filed felony counts in two domestic disturbances in Joplin.

Armando R. Garcia, 30, was charged with second-degree domestic assault after a disturbance early Saturday in the 200 block of North Connor Avenue. Police Cpl. Chuck Niess said Garcia is accused of forcing his wife’s face into a mattress with such force that it inhibited her ability to breathe. Niess said Christine Garcia, 30, did not require immediate medical attention.

Robert A. McDonald, 53, 908 S. Grand Ave., was charged with second-degree domestic assault in connection with a disturbance Saturday afternoon in the 800 block of West Fourth Street. Niess said McDonald is accused of beating and choking his sister, Cynthia J. Miller, 55. Miller declined medical attention, he said.
