Several injured in traffic accidents in Newton County

— A Goodman man was injured in a one-vehicle accident at 4:30 a.m. Thursday on Route D, a mile west of Stella in Newton County, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

The driver, Justin Hollenbeck, 21, suffered moderate injuries and was taken by ambulance to Freeman Hospital West, Joplin.

A patrol report said Hollenbeck’s vehicle was traveling north when it ran off the road and struck a tree.

• Seven people were injured in a one-vehicle accident at 3:40 p.m. Wednesday on Maple Drive, three miles south of Racine in Newton County, according to the patrol.

The driver, Laura Garr, 33, of Bacliff, Texas, suffered moderate injuries, as did a passenger, Jodi Wakeley, 34, of Neosho. Passengers Alexus Hencey, 9; Christopher Hencey, 16; Gracie Phillips, 9; Levi Potter, 14; and Brandon Wakeley, 7, all of Neosho, suffered minor injuries. The injured were taken by ambulance to Freeman Hospital West, Joplin.

A patrol report said the southbound vehicle failed to negotiate a curve and ran off the road; three occupants were thrown from the vehicle.
