Joplin man faces charge of receiving stolen property

A Joplin man has been charged with receiving stolen property after the owner of a motor scooter spotted it parked on Pennsylvania Avenue.

Timothy D. Esterly, 26, 502 S. Michigan Ave., was arrested Monday in the 800 block of Pennsylvania Avenue, according to police Lt. Brian Lewis.

Lewis said Lloyd B. Duncan, 908 W. Second St., had reported the theft of his motor scooter a day earlier.

“He said it was chained in front of his house, and then it was gone,” Lewis said. “He said he was driving down Pennsylvania and he spotted it, because it had some real distinctive stickers on it.”

Police were called, and Esterly was arrested at the location.

Bond has been set at $2,500.
