Deputy: Death of Eucha man apparent suicide

JAY, Okla. — A Delaware County man, whose body was discovered Monday morning outside his home near Eucha, is believed to have committed suicide.

The body of Russell Mooney, 47, was discovered by his brother about 10 a.m. in a side yard of his home, according to Capt. Gayle Wells of the Delaware County Sheriff’s Department. Mooney appeared to have shot himself with a high-caliber hunting rifle that was recovered at the scene, Wells said.

The body was taken to the Oklahoma state medical examiner’s office in Tulsa, where an autopsy will be performed.
