Joplin woman found dead; probe under way

Joplin police were looking into the death of a 28-year-old woman Wednesday afternoon at a home in the 2400 block of South Connor Avenue.

The mother of the woman discovered the death and called police. Crime scene tape was strung across the porch of the home, where family members had gathered in the yard about 5 p.m.

“Obviously, that’s too young to be dying so soon,” police Cpl. Chuck Niess told the Globe. “So we’re investigating.”

He said it was too early to say if the death was suspicious. The name of the deceased was being withheld pending further investigation.

Niess indicated the woman lived at the address with her children, who were not home at the time.
