Teen charged with stealing motorcycle helmets

The Newton County prosecutor’s office has charged a 19-year-old Joplin man with felony stealing in the theft of two motorcycle helmets from a vehicle parked at McIndoe Park.

Chad Sooter is accused of stealing two helmets worth more than $500 from Gary Thompson at the park on May 5. Joplin police Cpl. Chuck Niess said officers stopped Sooter’s vehicle at 43rd Street and Hearnes Boulevard a short time after the reported theft and recovered the stolen items.
