UPDATED: Joplin police find missing elderly man

UPDATED, 4:52 p.m. — Police said George Hubbard was transported to a local hospital to be treated for dehydration.

Police said Hubbard, who uses a cane, had received a ride from someone to get from the center to Glendale and Jackson, which is near Shoal Creek.

CORRECTION: George Hubbard is 90 years old. Previous versions of this story put his age at 89.

UPDATED, 4:02 p.m. — A 90-year-old man, who was reported missing earlier today from the Silver Creek Assisted Living Center, 3325 S. Texas Ave., was found this afternoon at Glendale Road and South Jackson Avenue, near Shoal Creek.

Police said George Hubbard appeared to be in good condition when he was found, but that he would receive a medial examination. Hubbard suffers from dementia and hypertension.

Police said it was not clear how Hubbard, who uses a cane, traveled from the center to the spot where he was found.  

Hubbard was reported missing at 11:50 a.m. He was found about 3:30 p.m.

A command post was established in the area. Police, fire and EMS crews searched the area for him.

Joplin police say they are searching for an 90-year-old male who was staying at the Silver Creek Assisted Living Center, 3325 S. Texas Ave.

Police say they were contacted at 11:50 a.m. today about George Hubbard, a white male who is five feet, six inches tall and weighs 120 pounds. He was last seen wearing a blue flannel shirt and brown pants. Hubbard also walks with a cane.

A command post has been established in the area and police, fire and EMS crews are in the area searching for him.
