Gunshots fired into vehicle; man charged

A Joplin man was charged Thursday in Jasper County Circuit Court with shooting into a vehicle another man was entering.

Joplin police arrested William K. Richardson in connection with a shooting incident about 6 p.m. Wednesday outside Richardson’s home at 528 S. St. Charles Ave. He was charged with illegal use of a weapon.

According to a probable-cause statement, Al Shaw arrived at the St. Charles Avenue address and began arguing with a woman who met him in the street. Richardson came out of the house and became involved in the argument, police said. As Shaw got into his vehicle to leave, Richardson allegedly fired several shots at the vehicle. Shaw wasn’t hit, but some shots hit the vehicle.

Police found Richardson at the address and arrested him, and seized a handgun.
