The Jasper County prosecutor’s office dropped a felony assault charge against a Joplin man Thursday related to an alleged attack of another man about 10 months ago in Webb City.
Joshua J. O’Neal, 31, was scheduled for a preliminary hearing in Jasper County Circuit Court on a charge of second-degree assault. But the charge was dropped when the alleged victim failed to show up to testify against him.
O’Neal had been accused of hitting another man in the face and shoving his head onto the hood of a pickup truck on Dec. 9 of last year in the 1500 block of South Madison Street in Webb City. A probable-cause affidavit said the victim suffered a fractured septum, two black eyes and a concussion.
