A 36-year-old man was sentenced recently to two years in prison on a conviction for failure to register as a sex offender.
Circuit Judge David Mouton assessed Jeffrey E. Spicer the term under the state’s shock-incarceration program at a sentencing hearing Nov. 16 in Jasper County Circuit Court in Joplin.
Spicer was arrested in June and pleaded guilty Aug. 31 in a plea agreement with the Jasper County prosecutor’s office that limited the prison time he might be assessed to no more than two years. He was facing the possibility of up to five years on the charge.
Court records show he was convicted on two counts of second-degree child molestation in December 2011 in Jasper County and is required to register with the sheriff’s office in the county where he lives.
