Man faces charge of sexual contact with student, 16

From staff reports

A 25-year-old man has been charged with a statutory offense in connection with sexual contact with a 16-year-old Joplin High School student.

Cpl. Chuck Niess said police were contacted after the high school principal discovered messages on a school-issued computer that indicated a possible sexual relationship forming between the student and an adult man not connected with the school. He said the principal had received a report that there were files containing pornography on the computer.

An investigation by police led to the arrest Tuesday night of Scott Morgan, of Joplin, on suspicion of sexual contact with a minor. The Jasper County prosecutor’s office has filed a charge of second-degree statutory sodomy against Morgan.
