Four people hurt in traffic accident west of Lanagan

Four people were injured in a single-vehicle accident at 8 a.m. Friday on Route EE, five miles west of Lanagan in McDonald County, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

The driver of the vehicle, James A. Lowery, 21, of Anderson, and passengers Nikki M. Johnson, 27, of Anderson, and Mary L. Lowery, 18, and Roseann C. Lowery, 24, both of Noel, were taken to Freeman Hospital West in Joplin.

The state patrol said James Lowery lost control of his pickup truck on the ice-covered roadway, and the vehicle ran off the road and overturned.

• A resident of Bella Vista, Ark., was injured in a two-vehicle accident at 6 a.m. Friday on Interstate 49 at Pineville, the state patrol said.

Cory B. Daniels, 28, was taken by ambulance to Mercy Hospital in Rogers, Ark., the patrol said.

Daniels was driving a northbound car that struck a rescue truck that was parked on the highway, the patrol said.

• A Seneca woman was injured in a single-vehicle accident at 5:45 a.m. Friday on Gum Road, four miles south of Joplin in Newton County, the state patrol said.

Doris L. Morris, 69, was taken by ambulance to Freeman Hospital West in Joplin, the patrol said.

Morris was driving an eastbound vehicle that slid off the ice-covered roadway and into a ditch, the patrol said.
