Fire damages two houses, plastic shed

CARL JUNCTION, Mo. — A fire that started Tuesday in a utility shed damaged two houses in Carl Junction.

The Carl Junction Fire Department responded at 5:45 p.m. to a fire on Miller Street. The fire, which began in a plastic shed next to the house, had spread to the exterior of the residence occupied by Kenneth Austin.

Firefighter Josh Sweet said the fire spread to a neighboring house before it was brought under control at 6:07 p.m. and extinguished. He said no injuries were reported.

The fire is believed to have been caused by a hot lawn mower that had been put away in the shed, Sweet said.
