Richardson was driving a southbound car and attempted to pass a southbound truck rig on the right as the truck driver, Neil J. Oxendine, 42, of Stark City, was making a right turn, the patrol said. The car ran into the side of the tractor-trailer.

• Two people were injured in a single-vehicle accident at 5:06 p.m. Sunday on St. Louis Avenue north of Seventh Street, according to a Joplin Police Department report.
