Joplin man accused of domestic assault

A Joplin man has been charged with a felony domestic assault on his girlfriend during an incident Sunday at their residence on South McKinley Avenue.

Police Cpl. Chuck Niess said officers were called to the address about 3 p.m. after Larry D. Simmons, 49, allegedly hit and choked Darlena M. Fenske, 49.

Niess said Fenske did not require immediate medical attention. Simmons was charged with second-degree domestic assault.
