Mother charged with threatening son with knife

A rural Joplin woman is facing a felony weapon charge after authorities say she threatened her 14-year-old son with a knife during a dispute.

Capt. Derek Walrod of the Jasper County Sheriff’s Department said Jenny R. Black, 35, was arrested after a disturbance about 11:15 p.m. Tuesday at an address on County Road 173.

Walrod said Black is accused of throwing an object at her son and then threatening him with a knife. She was charged with a felony count of unlawful use of a weapon.
