Carthage man hurt when motorcycle hits deer in road




A Carthage man was injured in a motorcycle accident at 7:30 a.m. Friday on County Road 110, two miles east of Carthage in Jasper County, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

Keith L. Holman, 42, was taken to Freeman Hospital West in Joplin, the patrol said.

Holman was riding a northbound motorcycle that struck a deer in the roadway, the patrol said.

• A Joplin man was injured in a motorcycle accident at 7:25 p.m. Thursday on Goldfinch Road, a mile south of Joplin in Newton County, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

William A. Lucas, 62, was taken to Freeman Hospital West in Joplin, the state patrol said.

Lucas was riding a northbound motorcycle that ran off the road and overturned, the patrol said.

• A teenager was injured in a single-vehicle accident at 4:33 p.m. Thursday on Missouri Highway 39 south of Mount Vernon in Lawrence County, the state patrol said.

Alexius D. Schmidly, 17, of Mount Vernon, was taken by ambulance to Mercy Hospital Springfield.

Schmidly was driving a northbound car that ran off the road, overturned and struck a fence, the patrol said.
