Neosho resident hurt in accident in Newton County

A Neosho man suffered serious injuries in a two-vehicle accident at 12:55 p.m. Wednesday on Hammer Road at Mulberry Road in Newton County, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

Rodney E. Blue, 52, was taken by ambulance to Freeman Hospital West in Joplin, the state patrol said.

Blue was riding a westbound motorcycle that collided with a tractor-trailer driven by Jeremy D. Greene, 34, of Rogers, Ark., when Greene pulled into Blue’s path, the state patrol said.

• A woman from Liberal was injured in a single-vehicle accident at 5:22 a.m. Wednesday on Route K, two miles north of Liberal in Barton County, the state patrol said.

Melissa L. Laymon, 31, was taken to Barton County Memorial Hospital in Lamar, the state patrol said.

Laymon was driving a southbound vehicle that ran off the road and overturned when she swerved to avoid a deer, the patrol said.

• A resident of Parsons, Kan., was critically injured in a single-vehicle accident at 1:17 a.m. Wednesday on a county road about seven miles northwest of Commerce, Okla., according to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol.

Susan Maxwell, 44, was flown by medical helicopter to Freeman Hospital West in Joplin, the patrol said.

Maxwell was driving a westbound vehicle that ran off the road and struck a tree and a fence post before rolling onto its top, the patrol said.
