Five people from Diamond were injured in a single-vehicle accident at 11:30 a.m. Friday on Interstate 49, five miles south of Joplin, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

The driver of the vehicle, Neng Lee, 39, and her four passengers were taken to Freeman Hospital West in Joplin, the state patrol said. The injured passengers were identified as Billy K. Vang, 13; Melody G. Vang, 3; Stephanie P. Vang, 18; and Victor Vang, 4.

Their northbound vehicle ran off the road, and struck a reflector post and several trees when Lee lost control of the vehicle in heavy rain, the patrol said.
