Mount Vernon woman hurt in accident near Aurora

A Mount Vernon woman was injured in a single-vehicle accident at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday on Missouri Highway 39, four miles north of Aurora in Lawrence County, the Missouri State Highway Patrol said.

Dawn M. Justice, 34, was taken to Cox Medical Center South in Springfield, the patrol said.

She was driving a northbound car that ran off the road and struck a culvert, the patrol said.

• Two people were injured in a single-vehicle accident at 1:43 a.m. Tuesday on Newton Road, a mile west of Joplin, the state patrol said.

The driver of the vehicle, Caroline A. Jorge, 20, of Pittsburg, Kan., and her passenger, Kiyle J. Chiou, 22, of Joplin, were taken to Freeman Hospital West in Joplin, the patrol said.

The southbound car ran through a T-intersection and struck a tree, the patrol said.
