Lamar man hurt in traffic accident south of Joplin


— A Lamar man was injured in a single-vehicle accident at 1:27 p.m. Wednesday on Interstate 49, five miles south of Joplin in Newton County, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

Michael Z. Flores, 18, was taken by ambulance to Freeman Hospital West in Joplin, the patrol said.

Flores was driving a northbound vehicle that ran off the road and overturned, the patrol said.

• A Carl Junction girl was injured when she was struck by a vehicle at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday on Fir Road, four miles north of Joplin in Jasper County, the state patrol said.

McKenzie P. Kile, 12, was taken to Freeman Hospital West in Joplin, the patrol said.

The patrol said the girl ran in front of an eastbound pickup truck driven by Mitchell J. Woolridge, 19, of Carl Junction.

• A Cassville man suffered serious injuries in a motorcycle accident at 6:13 p.m. Tuesday on Route M, two miles north of Eagle Rock in Barry County, the state patrol said.

Charles R. Longnecker, 62, was flown by medical helicopter to Cox Medical Center South in Springfield, the patrol said.

Longnecker was riding a northbound motorcycle that struck a dog and overturned, the patrol said.
