Three motorists hurt in accidents on roads in area



A Liberal resident was injured in a single-vehicle accident at 2:35 p.m. Friday on Highway 43, eight miles north of Joplin in Jasper County, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

Lowell A. Sturgell, 59, was taken by ambulance to Freeman Hospital West in Joplin, the state patrol said.

Sturgell was driving a northbound vehicle that ran off the road and overturned in a field, the patrol said.

• An Oklahoma man was injured in a single-vehicle accident at 12:01 a.m. Friday on Highway 43 in Seneca, the state patrol said.

Bo G. Elliott, 21, of Wyandotte, Okla., was taken to Freeman Neosho Hospital, the patrol said.

Elliott was driving a northbound pickup truck that ran off the road, struck a sign and overturned, the patrol said.

• A Pineville woman was injured in a two-vehicle accident at 12:45 p.m. Friday on U.S. Highway 71, six miles south of Pineville in McDonald County, the state patrol said.

Barbara J. Bradbury, 48, was taken to Northwest Medical Center in Bentonville, the patrol said.

Bradbury was driving a westbound sport utility vehicle and was attempting to make a left turn onto Highway 71 when her vehicle collided with a northbound car driven by Russell T. Johnson, 49, of Verona, who failed to stop for a stop light, the patrol said.
