Autopsy ordered in Joplin death

An autopsy has been ordered on a 23-year-old man whose death was discovered Friday morning inside his home in central Joplin.

Police and emergency medical technicians were summoned at 8:42 a.m. to 1912 S. Pearl Ave., where Jacob A. Wages had been found unresponsive and not breathing. No medical transport was made.

“We’re investigating this as suspicious until we can show otherwise,” said police Lt. Brian Lewis.

Lewis said an autopsy had been ordered and is tentatively set for Monday, although investigators were hoping to get it moved up to today if possible.
