Kansas man remains jailed in weapon case

NEVADA, Mo. — A Kansas man stands accused of showing up Sunday at an ex-girlfriend’s home in Nevada and making threats while displaying a shotgun.

Nevada police arrested Lonnie S. Martin, 25, of Pleasanton, Kan., after the incident Sunday night in the 1100 block of Surrey Lane.

Police said Martin went to the home of his 22-year-old ex-girlfriend with a 12-gauge shotgun, and cocked the weapon and threatened her when she came to the door.

She shut the door on him, locked it and called 911, police said. Officers arrested him minutes later.

Martin, who was charged with unlawful use of a weapon, remained in custody Monday at the Vernon County Jail on $5,000 bond.
