WEBB CITY, Mo. — A fire Sunday that caused heavy damage to a house in Webb City is believed to have started above a closet containing the residence’s furnace.
Webb City and Duenweg firefighters responded to a call at 5:49 p.m. reporting a fire at the residence of Karen Clingan on Horseshoe Drive.
Webb City Battalion Chief Jackie Clark said heavy smoke was coming from the eaves and a window at the front of the residence when firefighters arrived. The fire broke through the roof of the two-story residence before it could be brought under control and extinguished, he said.
No injuries were reported, although two firefighters were treated at the scene after minor falls, Clark said.
The cause of the fire remained undetermined Monday, but Clark said the point of origin was believed to be above the furnace closet.
