Alleged intruder stabbed during break-in, remains in critical condition

NEOSHO, Mo. — An alleged intruder remained in critical condition Wednesday night after the resident of an apartment the man is accused of entering stabbed him in the face.

Neosho police responded at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday to 116 N. High St., Apt. 5. The male resident of the apartment told police that a 28-year-old man had broken into his apartment and assaulted him. The witness told police he stabbed the suspect in self defense. The suspect left the apartment and the resident called for help.

Officers located the suspect at Freeman Neosho Hospital, where he was being treated. He later was transferred to Freeman Hospital West, in Joplin.
