An Arkansas woman charged with robbing a Joplin convenience store waived her right to a preliminary hearing Tuesday and was ordered bound over for trial.
Leeanna M. Crittendon, 24, of Harrison, waived the hearing in Newton County Circuit Court, and Associate Judge Gregory Stremel ordered her bound over on a charge of first-degree robbery. The judge set the defendant’s initial appearance in a trial division of the court for Feb. 1.
Crittendon is accused of entering the Fastrip store at 3347 S. Range Line Road on Oct. 9, displaying a knife to the clerk and demanding money from a cash register. Joplin police say she was wearing a hooded sweatshirt and an “alien-style” mask, and that she dropped some of the money from the register as she left the store and got into a Ford Taurus.
Police stopped a vehicle of that make and model a short time later near the Flying J truck stop on East 32nd Street. The female driver of the car was questioned and eventually released without charges. But Crittendon, who was a passenger in the vehicle, was arrested and charged with the robbery.
