A 31-year-old man was charged with being a felon in possession of a firearm after a traffic stop by Joplin police Saturday morning in the 300 block of North Jackson Avenue.
Police Lt. Brian Lewis said an officer stopped a vehicle for an alleged failure to signal a turn, and arrested the driver on outstanding warrants and for having an invalid driver’s license.
A passenger in the vehicle, Jimmy D. Thompson, of Galena, Kan., was arrested on the weapon charge when an ammunition clip and a 9 mm handgun were found in the car, Lewis said.
