Kansas woman injured in accident on U.S. Highway 69

A 42-year-old woman was injured in a single-vehicle accident at 10:43 a.m. Thursday on U.S. Highway 69, a half-mile north of 640th Avenue, according to the Crawford County (Kan.) Sheriff’s Department.

Kandi K. Martin, of Spring Hill, Kan., was taken to Via Christi Hospital in Pittsburg, the Sheriff’s Department said.

Martin was driving a southbound vehicle that ran off the road and rolled in a ditch, coming to rest on its side, the department said.

• A Springfield man was injured in a single-vehicle accident at 6:30 a.m. Thursday on Interstate 44, two miles east of Mount Vernon in Lawrence County, the Missouri State Highway Patrol said.

Oliver D. Blount, 29, was taken to Mercy Hospital Springfield, the patrol said.

Blount was a passenger in an eastbound car that struck a bridge, the patrol said. The identity of the driver remained under investigation, the patrol said.

• A 24-year-old woman was injured in a two-vehicle accident at 9:01 p.m. Wednesday on Indiana Avenue near 34th Street, according to a Joplin Police Department report.

Jessica E. Morlock, of Joplin, was taken to Freeman Hospital West, the report said.

Morlock was a passenger in a northbound vehicle driven by Alejandro D. Martinez, 56, of Joplin, that had run out of gas and come to a stop when a car driven by Judith A. Turner, 73, of Joplin, ran into it from behind, the report said.

• Three people were injured in a single-vehicle accident at 3:45 p.m. Wednesday on Route H, a mile north of Freistatt in Lawrence County, according to the Missouri state patrol.

The driver of the pickup truck, Patricia R. Brown, 21, of Monett, was flown by medical helicopter to Mercy Hospital Springfield with serious injuries. Her passengers, Kelsi L. Brown, 22, and Brooklyn E. Marie-Harville, 5, both of Monett, were taken by ambulance to Cox Medical Center South in Springfield.

The northbound truck ran off the road and down an embankment before overturning, the patrol said.
