Cattle theft under investigation

MOUNT VERNON, Mo. — Someone stole about 27 head of cattle recently from a farm near Marionville, according to the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department.

The sheriff’s office is seeking help regarding the reported theft of two white steers and 25 black steers. Anyone with information about the crime is being asked to call the sheriff’s office at 417-416-3121.

The theft was reported on Saturday. The sheriff’s office is advising farmers and residents to be wary of strange or suspicious activity in rural areas of the county.
