Police probe assault of rural Joplin man at local nightclub

JOPLIN, Mo. — A 27-year-old man was taken to a hospital with a possible head injury suffered during an assault about 1:30 a.m. Wednesday inside the Jukebox Saturday Night bar and dance club.

Lt. Matt Stewart, with the Joplin Police Department, said officers responding to a call from the club at 3405 S. Range Line Road came upon a man with a bloody face in the parking lot pounding on the hood of a vehicle.

The officers determined that the man, Dwayne C.J. Milligan, of rural Joplin, had been jumped by three men inside the club a short time previously and briefly knocked unconscious. He was taken by ambulance to Freeman Hospital West for treatment of his injuries.

Stewart said Milligan’s assailants left the club before officers arrived.

“As of now, they have not been identified,” Stewart said.
