Man reports assault, robbery to police

JOPLIN, Mo. — A 43-year-old man reported being robbed Tuesday afternoon in a parking lot in the 3500 block of South Range Line Road in Joplin.

Lt. Matt Stewart, with the Joplin Police Department, said Cory Dikeman, address unavailable, reported that he obtained $20 from an ATM in a convenience store and pulled into a lot adjacent to the store to get something out of the trunk of his vehicle when a man walked up, punched him and stole his $20.

The man, who fled on foot, was described as being in his 20s, about 6 feet tall, with short hair and a muscular build, Stewart said. He was wearing black athletic shorts and black high-top athletic shoes.

Dikeman reportedly sought treatment of an injury at the emergency room of Mercy Hospital after the robbery.
