Joplin police investigate possible abduction

— Joplin police said Saturday they were continuing to investigate a report of a possible abduction stemming from an incident Friday evening.

According to a police statement, officers were dispatched to Steak N Shake, 3315 E. Hammons Blvd., at 6:43 p.m. Friday after a white female around 50 years old with purple hair reportedly jumped out of a vehicle. She then ran up to the restaurant’s drive-through window, pounded on the glass and asked restaurant employees to call 911.

The report states a white male, approximately 50 years of age with brown hair, approached the female and pulled her toward the vehicle. Once they reached the car, both people got in and they drove away.

Officers believe the woman had a minor cut because small amounts of blood were found at the scene.

Police were seeking information about the suspect vehicle, which they identified as a 1990s model Oldsmobile Cutlass or similar model with amounts of trash inside. The car has Missouri plates.

Anyone with information is encouraged to contact the Joplin Police Department at 417-623-3131.
