CARTHAGE, Mo. — Jasper County sheriff’s deputies believe they solved a string of home burglaries in the Carthage area with the arrests of three men since May 2.
Lt. Ron Thomas said a home on Old Route 66 west of Carthage was burglarized May 1. Two more burglaries were reported the next day at homes near Gum Road and County Road 65 and on Cimarron Road, Thomas said.
Kyle Newman, 17, of Carthage, was arrested May 2 in alleged possession of property stolen from the home on Old Route 66 near Kellogg Lake. He was charged with a misdemeanor count of receiving stolen property at that time.
Newman’s arrest led to the arrest May 7 of two more suspects, Isaac Benz, 20, and Robert Harris, 17, both of Carthage, for their alleged involvement in the burglaries. All three suspects have been charged by the Jasper County prosecutor’s office with three counts of burglary and two counts of theft.
The sheriff’s office said cash, electronics, jewelry, clothing and household items were taken in the break-ins.
“We got some of it back, but not all of it,” Thomas said. “We’re still looking for some of it.”
