St. Joseph fugitive arrested in Carthage

CARTHAGE, Mo. — Carthage police and the Jasper County sheriff’s office Wednesday arrested a man wanted in St. Joseph for involuntary manslaughter.

Shawn W. Maynard, 24, of St. Joseph, was stopped by a deputy about 6:30 p.m. in the 700 block of South River Street in Carthage. The arrest came after some initial surveillance of the suspect by the Jasper County Drug Task Force acting on information passed to the Carthage Police Department by St. Joseph police.

Maynard remained in custody Thursday at the Jasper County Jail on a $70,000 surety bond and a $5,000 cash bond.
