JOPLIN, Mo. —
A Jasper County judge granted a 25-year-old man two suspended impositions of sentences Monday on felony weapon and theft convictions.
Geoffrey C. Blair, of Joplin, had pleaded guilty to the charges in Jasper County Circuit Court in plea agreements with the prosecutor’s office that called for suspended impositions of sentences. Circuit Judge Gayle Crane granted the suspended terms at a hearing on Monday and placed the defendant on probation for five years.
The weapon charge stemmed from an incident Nov. 15, 2010, at Blair’s home at 3108 W. Perkins St. A police officer testified at a preliminary hearing in 2011 that Blair stumbled out of the house carrying a handgun as officers arrived in response to a report of a man flourishing a weapon. He acknowledged to an officer that he had consumed between a half-pint and a pint of vodka, and his wife reported that he had pointed the gun at her and fired a shot into some woods near their home.
Blair initially was charged with felony domestic assault as well as the weapon offense, but that charge was dropped when his wife refused to testify against him. The theft charge pertained to a $1,200 ring that he stole in the course of transactions in 2011 with Cindi’s One Hour Jewelers at Northpark Mall in Joplin.

Two plead guilty to post-tornado wire theft
