Two arrested in Joplin assault; hammers involved

Two people have been charged in connection with an assault on Wednesday night in Joplin.

Enrique Padilla, 25, 3027 E. Ninth St., and Rosalio Sanchez Padilla, 34, 3901 S. Hearnes Blvd., were in custody Thursday on charges of first-degree burglary and second-degree assault.

Joplin police reported that they were called at 10:22 p.m. Wednesday to the home of Roberto Quellar, 1403 E. Hill St.

Quellar had been hit with hammers by two people who also had broken all the windows out of his pickup truck, police said.

Police said the Padillas were arrested a short time later at the Hearnes Boulevard apartment.

Judge Richard Copeland ordered the two held in jail without bond on immigration violations.
