Pittsburg garage fire destroys pickup truck

PITTSBURG, Kan. — The Pittsburg Fire Department kept a fire from destroying a detached garage at a residence Monday morning but could not save all its contents, including a vehicle.

Firefighters responded at 6:12 a.m. to a report of a fire in the 900 block of East Eighth Street and found the garage in flames.

Battalion Chief Kevin Casella said a pickup truck inside the garage was destroyed by the fire, along with some other contents, but the garage was saved. No injuries were reported, Casella said. He said the cause of the fire remained under investigation.

The occupant of the address was listed as Mary Grotheer.
