HEPLER, Kan. — A fire early Sunday destroyed a home in Hepler and a vehicle parked in its driveway.
The Crawford County Sheriff’s Department said the home in the 600 block of North Elm Street was in flames when firefighters arrived at 1:11 a.m. A 1995 Ford van parked next to the house also was burning when the Hepler city and Sherman Township fire departments arrived.
The homeowner, Travis Smith, was not home at the time, and no injuries were reported, the Sheriff’s Department said. The fire destroyed the home and its contents as well as the vehicle.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation by the sheriff’s office.
