Purdy resident hurt in accident in Barry County

A Purdy resident was injured in a single-vehicle accident at 11:05 a.m. Friday on Farm Road 1090, two miles south of Midway in Barry County, the Missouri State Highway Patrol said.

Jose Rodriguez-Hernandez, 58, was taken to Cox Monett Hospital, the patrol said.

He was driving a southbound pickup truck that ran off the road and struck an embankment, the patrol said.

• An Anderson woman was injured in a single-vehicle accident at 10:30 a.m. Friday on Route EE, six miles west of Lanagan in McDonald County, the state patrol said.

Betty I. Marney, 78, was taken to Freeman Neosho Hospital, the patrol said.

Marney was driving an eastbound car that ran off the road and overturned, the patrol said.

• A Sheldon resident was injured in a single-vehicle accident at 7:15 a.m. Friday on Route B, seven miles east of Sheldon in Vernon County, the state patrol said.

Debbie S. Phelps, 53, was taken to Nevada Regional Medical Center, the patrol said.

She was driving a westbound pickup truck that ran off the road and down a steep embankment, the patrol said.

• An Aurora resident suffered serious injuries in a single-vehicle accident at 12:45 a.m. Friday on U.S. Highway 60, five miles east of Monett in Lawrence County, according to the state patrol.

Michaela A. Brayfield, 32, was taken to Cox Medical Center South in Springfield, the state patrol said.

Brayfield was driving an eastbound vehicle that skidded off the ice-covered road and overturned in a ditch, the patrol said.

• A Springfield woman was injured in a single-vehicle accident at 12:04 a.m. Friday on Missouri Highway 37, one mile north of Butterfield in Barry County, the state patrol said.

Donna G. Garton, 62, was taken to Mercy Hospital Springfield, the patrol said.

Garton was driving a northbound pickup truck that struck a mailbox, ran into a ditch and overturned when she lost control of the vehicle on an icy roadway, the patrol said.

• A Mount Vernon man was injured in a single-vehicle accident at 11:20 p.m. Thursday on Interstate 44, a half-mile west of Mount Vernon in Lawrence County, the state patrol said.

Edward P. Johnson, 27, was taken to Mercy Hospital in Aurora.

Johnson was a passenger in a westbound car driven by Jesse R. Moore, 33, of Miller, that ran off the road and overturned when Moore lost control of the vehicle on the slush-covered roadway, the patrol said.

• Three people suffered minor injuries in a two-vehicle accident at 11 p.m. Thursday on Interstate 49, three miles north of Lamar in Barton County, the state patrol said.

The two drivers involved, Katie E. Rutledge, 18, of Lamar, and Dawn L. Evans, 32, of Shreveport, La., and a passenger in Rutledge’s car, Emma L. Whitehead, 18, of Lamar, were taken to Barton County Memorial Hospital in Lamar, the patrol said.

Rutledge lost control of her northbound car and collided with a northbound tractor-trailer rig driven by Evans, the patrol said.

• A Monett woman was injured in a two-vehicle accident at 6 p.m. Thursday on U.S. Highway 60, a mile east of Monett in Barry County, the state patrol said.

Melissa A. Robertson, 45, was taken to Cox Medical Center South in Springfield, the patrol said.

She was driving an eastbound car and was stopped to make a left turn when an eastbound car driven by Edwin Mercado, 33, of Springfield, ran into her vehicle from behind, the patrol said.
