Webb City man hurt in motorcycle accident in village


— A Webb City man was injured in a motorcycle accident at 10:40 a.m. Saturday on Bland Avenue in Airport Drive in Jasper County, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

Driver Steven T. Allwood, 44, was taken to Freeman Hospital West in Joplin, the patrol said.

The patrol said that Allwood, who was westbound, swerved to miss a vehicle that was backing from a private drive, and his motorcycle ran off the roadway and overturned, the patrol said.

• An Aurora resident was injured in a two-car accident at 10:10 a.m. Saturday on Highway 39, three miles south of Madry in Barry County, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

Christine R. Lambeth, 43, sustained minor injuries and was taken to Mercy Hospital in Aurora. The driver of the other car, Randy E. Messbarger, 56, was not injured in the accident, the patrol said.

The accident occurred when Messbarger’s northbound vehicle crossed the center line and struck Lambeth’s car, the patrol said.

• A Marionville man was injured in an accident at 8:50 p.m. Friday on County Road 2077, five miles northwest of Mount Vernon in Lawrence County, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

Richard M. Rhodes, 17, sustained moderate injuries and was taken to Mercy Hospital in Aurora, the patrol said.

The accident occurred when Rhodes, who was westbound, failed to negotiate a curve. He left the roadway and struck a tree, the patrol said.
