Ex-housing director admits embezzling $27,000 from tribe

From staff reports

— GROVE, Okla. — The former executive director of the Seneca-Cayuga Housing Authority in Grove, Okla., pleaded guilty this week in federal court to embezzling tribal funds.

Lana M. Line, 45, pleaded guilty in U.S. District Court in Tulsa to a charge handed up by a federal grand jury in May.

Her plea agreement states that from November 2008 through November 2010 she falsified Seneca-Cayuga Housing Authority records and issued checks “for repair work done on homes when in fact that work was not done.” She then cashed the checks and kept the money.

The plea agreement states that she owes the housing authority $26,781 in restitution.

Line is scheduled to be sentenced Sept. 23. She faces up to five years in prison and a $250,000 fine.
