Washburn teenager hurt in accident south of Cassville

— A Washburn teen was injured in a motorcycle-car accident at 4:55 p.m. Tuesday on Highway 37, about two miles south of Cassville in Barry County, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

Austin Shuey, 18, driver of the motorcycle, was taken to Mercy Hospital in Cassville.

The patrol said a southbound car driven by Norman R. Phillips, 65, of Exeter, slowed to make a turn and was struck from behind by the Shuey cycle.

• Three motorists were injured in a two-vehicle accident at about 8 a.m. Tuesday on Kafir Road, about five miles northwest of Joplin in Jasper County, according to the patrol.

Tasha L. Robinson, 25, of Webb City, driver of one of the vehicles, and a year-old passenger, Nicholas Robinson, were taken to Freeman Hospital West in Joplin. The driver of the other vehicle, Sharron K. Wilkins, 62, of Carl Junction, also was taken to Freeman Hospital West.

The patrol said the Robinson vehicle was northbound and struck the eastbound Wilkins vehicle in the side.

• Two Arkansas teens were injured in a single-vehicle accident at about 8 p.m. Monday on Elk Springs Road, about four miles west of Pineville in McDonald County, according to the Missouri patrol.

The driver, Brennan M. Martin, 18, of Bella Vista, and Stacie B. Sebren, 19, of Siloam Springs, were taken to Washington Regional Medical Center in Fayetteville, Ark.

The patrol said the southbound vehicle ran off the road on a curve, hit an embankment and overturned.
